The Monasterio de San Millan de Yuso stands in the Cardena Valley. This monastery was built in the 17th Century on the site of an earlier building. The church is partly in the Renaissance style and in the rococo sacristy are 17th Century paintings. Remains of the hermit San Millan are in a shrine with carvings of his life. In the library are medieval manuscripts, including some of the earliest known Castilian texts.
