The Museo del Botijo is housed in the Castle of Toral de Los Guzmanes which dates from the 13th Century. The collection of Spanish pottery and ceramics was donated by Riojana Gil Gibernau. There are more than two thousand botijos and these are receptacles for storing water. Some of them are from the mid 18th Century and they are from all over Spain. Their designs are varied and and this is one of the best collections in the world.
