The Museo de la Rioja is housed in a splendid 18th Century mansion. Part of the collection includes religious art from old monasteries that closed long ago. A group of 14th Century preserved paintings known as Las Tablas de San Millan are especially impressive. Also not to be missed are late 16th Century carvings made by Pedro de Arbulo for the retablo in Monasterio de la Estrella. There is also a painting of St Francis by El Greco. The museum also holds temporary art exhibitions.
