The Museum of Leon is housed in the sacristy of the Church of San Marcos, and amongst its exhibits are many fine pieces of art, including an 11th Century ivory crucifix and a 10th Century votive cross of Santiago de Penalba. The main facade of the church is decorated with scallop shells, which are the symbols of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella. The former chapterhouse has a Renaissance ceiling.
