The Perez Galdos Theatre is one of the best theatres in the Canary Islands and it was named after the Canarian writer Benito Perez Galdos who died in 1920. He is considered Spain`s most important writer after Cervantes. The theatre was built in 1919 and is the work of Miguel Fernandez de la Torre and the interior was designed by his brother Nestor Martin. The auditorium has a capacity for 1400 spectators. It is the home of the island`s symphony orchestra.
