Sabiote is an interesting village with many splendid Renaissance mansions. One of these is the Palacio de los Melgarejos. The village also has a fine castle, now privately owned, which was originally a Moorish fortress. It was rebuilt in the 13th Century after the reconquest. The Plateresque facade was added later by the architect Andres de Vandelvira.
