Salines Beach is a beautiful, long sandy bay with rock outcrops, backed by dunes and pines. At the south-east end are tiny, sandy coves and beyond them is the rocky headland Punta de ses Portes, the most southerly point on Ibiza. Here stands a two storey 16th Century defence tower, Torre de ses Portes, from where are great views of tiny islands stretching out to Formentera. The Illa des Penjate, which has a lighthouse, is where executions were carried out until about one hundred years ago.
