The Castillo de Villanueva de Jamuz served as a palace and a fortress. It was built by Diego Fernandez de Quinores and his wife Maria de Toledo. They also built other fortresses. Because of conflict with the Bishop of Astorga, the Christian Monarchs confiscated the castle for a time, although it was later returned. Visits can be arranged.
