Aledo is a medieval village situated on a rock above a valley on the border of the Sierra de Espana Natural Park. Once a Moorish stronghold, it was held by the Order of Santiago in the Middle Ages. From a watchtower are superb views of the surrounding countryside and distant moutains. Outside the village is an 18th Century sanctuary dedicated to Santa Eulalia. It has a lovely Mudejar ceiling and frescoes.
