The Barrio de Bella Vista is where British staff who worked for the Rio Tinto Company lived. British investors founded the company in the late 19th Century and turned nearby metal rich hills into a copper mine. The area where the British staff was housed had a Protestant church and an English club. One of the houses forms part of the Museo Minero and it contains British colonial furniture. The rest of the suburb is now occupied by Spaniards.
