The Beach of Playa De Las Americas is one of the most popular beaches on Tenerife Island. Its dark volcanic sands is covered with golden sand from the Sahara and the beach is divided into sections, protected by breakwaters. There is a promenade and there are rock and shingle beaches further south. Playa De Las Americas was built as a resort in the 1960s and is known for its nightlife.
