Punta Umbria was once a fishing village and it has now developed into a popular, local seaside resort. There is a long sandy beach and seafood restaurants. Punta Umbria first became popular for its beach in the 19th century when the British worked at the Rio Tinto mines. Nearby is the Marismas de Odiel Natural Park that is important for its wildlife. Boat trips and buses run between Huelva and Punta Umbria.
