The Casino opened as a gentleman`s club in the mid 19th Century and behind its Modernist facade, which was completed about 1900, is an Arab style patio and vestibule. There is a reading room in the English style, a billiard room and a French ballroom with over three hundred lamps in the candelabras. The most unusual room of all is the neo Baroque ladies cloakroom. On the ceiling are images of clouds with ladies powdering their faces.
