The small watchtower Castillo de San Felipe was built in the early 17th Century at the time of Felipe 1V of Spain. At that time La Orotava was Tenerife`s capital and Puerto de la Cruz its port. The building is an example of colonial architecture of the time and it has been carefully restored. It is located at the eastern end of Playa Jardin and classical concerts as well as art exhibitions are frequently held here.
