The medieval ruins of Castell del Rei stand in a remote spot above the sea north of Pollenca. Originally built by the Moors and rebuilt by Jaime 1, it held out against Aragonese invasions until the 14th Century. Later, it was used as a watchtower. Standing above 1,300 feet cliffs, the castle can be reached by a walk of two or three hours, each way, from Pollenca.
