The Church of Nostra Senyora des Angels dates from the 13th Century when it was built for the Knights Templar, a military order that supported the Crusades. The order was suppressed by the pope in 1312 and the Templars` properties passed to the Hospitallers of St John, which was disbanded in 1812. The church in Pollenca was remodelled in the 17th Century in the Baroque style and the building has a rose window, wall paintings and an impressive high altarpiece, several tiers high.
