Avenida de Extremadura, Merida 06800 - Spain

Map
The Church of Santa Eulalia was originally built in the 5th Century and it was dedicated to a child saint who was a martyr in Roman times, and is said to be buried here. The church was rebuilt in the 13th Century. Excavations carried out have uncovered Roman houses, the original church, and a Christian cemetery. Outside the church is a 17th Century shrine built from a ruined temple to Mars, the Roman god of war.
