The Iglesia de Santa Maria la Major stands on a promontory overlooking the old part of Montblanc. Built in the 14th Century on the site of a Romanesque church, it has an elaborate Baroque facade. Inside is one nave with side chapels. Highlights include a splendid 17th Century organ,a Gothic altarpiece carved in polychrome wood and a silver monstrance. From the hill behind the church are fine views of the town and medieval walls.
