The Church of Santa Maria was founded in the late 13th Century when Alfonso 111 captured the island. It was rebuilt in the 18th Century. Inside is a long single nave and several baroque side chapels. The main attraction is the organ, which has four keyboards and three thousand pipes. Made in Austria in 1810, it was transferred across Europe during the Napoleonic wars. During the summmer months, concerts are held here every day.
