The people of Madrid are very keen cinema goers and the Cine Dore was one of the first cinemas to open in the city. Built in 1923, it has a later Modernista and Art Nouveau facade. The building was restored in the 1980s and it is now home to the Filmoteca Nacional, a national film institute that shows films at inexpensive prices. Inside there is also a pleasant cafe.
