The Convento de la Serra dates from the 13th Century and inside the one naved church is an Italian Gothic alabaster statue of the Virgin Mare de Deu de la Serra. According to tradition, the convent was built on the request of a Greek princess carrying an image of the Virgin on a journey rom Salou to Saragossa. The mules pulling her carriage refused to go further than Montblanc so she asked for permission to build the convent here.
