The Convento de San Francisco was once an important training centre for missionary monks before they set out for the New World of the Americas. Dating from the 15th Century, it has a single naved church built mainly of brick in the Mudejar style. After being damaged by an earthquake, the building was restored. Inside is a splendid 18th Century Baroque retablo. The spire and cloister belong to this period.
