Portals Vells is a beautiful, sandy cove surrounded by cliffs near the southwest tip of Palma Bay. It is popular during the summer months. A walk along the cliffs leads to the Cove de la Mare de Deu, a chapel in the rocks. According to legend, it was built by Genoese sailors who had survived a shipwreck. Just over a mile further south is the Cap de Cala Figuera, from where there are wide views over Palma Bay.
