The Metropolis building dates from the early 20th Century when it was designed by Jules and Raymond Fevrier for an insurance company. Above the ground floor are columns with allegorical sculptures representing Mining, Industry, Commerce and Agriculture. On the dome is a statue representing the Winged Victory. A lovely, small statue of a woman selling violets stands at ground level near the base of the tower.
