The Congreso de los Diputados is the home of the Spanish parliament. Built in the 19th Century, it is on the site of a disused monastery where politicians used to meet. The building has a grand portico guarded by two lions which were made from melted down canon captured from the Moors in the African War of 1860. There are guided tours of some of the rooms on Saturday mornings.
