The Iglesia de San Jorge once stood above the wharf from where Christopher Columbus and his men set sail to the New World. The church dates from the 15th Century and has both Gothic and Mudejar features. Inside are frescoes and a Gothic alabaster statue of Santa Ana. It is believed that Christopher Columbus prayed here before he sailed and below the church is a well where the crew drew water for their voyage.
