The Lake of Pitillas is a natural lake that is home to many species of birds. It is now a nature reserve and there is a bird observatory overlooking the lake and several footpaths. Birds that may be seen include storks, bitterns, bee-eaters, black-winged stilts, gadwalls and purple herons. Geese and harrier are winter visitors. Reptiles, genet and wild boar are often seen in the vicinity of the nature reserve. The lake is about two miles from the village of Pitillas.
