Llivia is a Spanish town completely surrounded by French territory. When Spain and France signed the Treaty of the Pyrennes it was agreed that Llivia remained part of Spain because, although it has a small population, it was a town and not a village. A corridor of about 2 kilometres separates it from Spain. The town has a medieval centre, Gothic fortified church and an intriguing old pharmacy in the municipal museum.
