The Lago Martianez is a large complex of attractively shaped swimming pools laid out amongst fountains and palms. It is located near the beach. In the 1970s, Puerto de la Cruz lacked a good beach and this lido was created to provide facilities for swimming and sun bathing. It contains filtered seawater. The complex was designed by artist Cesar Manrique. There are sunbathing terraces, bars and restaurants.
