Monachil is an attractive village in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Nearby is the spectacular gorge of Las Cahorras which has many climbing routes as well as paths for walkers. It has a suspension bridge and a waterfall. There are also mountain bike routes. The village itself has a 15th Century church and several interesting buildings, including the Casa de los Senores de Aragon.
