Originally a medieval palace, this notable building becme the Convent of the Royal Barefoot Sisters in the mid 16th Century when it was converted for women of royal rank by Dona Juana. Austere outside, inside are many rich treasures, including a grand staircase with a fresco of Felipe 1V and his family, chapels containing art and a room of royal portraits. The convent also owns a collection of 17th Century tapestries. Inside the main chapel is the tomb of Dona Juana.
