Monte Toro is Menorca`s highest mountain and the 357 metres high summit can be reached by driving or walking along a three kilometre road from Es Mercadel. On the top of the mountain is a convent with a courtyard, well, tower and refectory. Inside the 17th Century Renaissance church is a statue of the Virgin holding Jesus with the legendary bull who discovered the statue at her feet. There is a restaurant and from the terrace are views of almost all the island.
