Montscapo Volcano is a volcano easily reached on foot from the centre of Olot and from the summit are superb views of the town and the surrounding volcanic landscape. The walk is waymarked and takes less than half an hour to the top from the Church of Sant Esteve. Stations of the Cross in an avenue of plane trees lead to the Chapel of Sant Francesc on the summit. Here you can descend to the floor of the crater or follow a path around the rim.
