The Archaeology Museum houses important treasures from Spain`s past, and the huge collection of objects range from the prehistoric era to modern times. Items are not only from excavations in Spain, but also Greece and Egypt. It takes about three hours to visit the thirty-eight permanent exhibition halls. There are Bronze Age bowls, Roman mosaics and 7th Century crowns decorated with gold. Of special interest is the reproduction of the Altamira Cave and its paintings, occupied about 15,000 BC.
