The Romantic Museum is housed in a late 18th Century mansion that was turned into a museum by the Marquis of Vega-Inclan. He donated his collection of 19th Century paintings and other objects and, a few years later, it was taken over by the State. The museum contains a vast collection of items from the period including dolls, ornaments, furniture, musical instruments and portraits. There is a collection of paintings depicting everyday life and festivals. The room dedicated to the journalist Mariano Jose de Larra displays the pistol with which he shot himself.
