The art collection of Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza is considered to be one of the most important private collections in the world. After being moved from Switzerland to Spain, it was sold to the state. The collection contains an extremely wide range of art, covering every European school over a period of several hundred years, from Italian primitives to Impressionism and Expressionism, and includes works by famous artists such as Constable, Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso.
