The Museu de Mallorca is housed in a 16th Century mansion that was built on the site of a Moorish house. The museum contains an extensive collection of archaeological objects, including prehistoric and Roman exhibits. There is also a display of 14th and 15th Century Gothic paintings by the Mallorcan Primitives, including the remarkable St George by Franesch Comes. Also on display are ceramics and more recent paintings by foreign artists who once lived on the island.
