The Museum of Visigothic Art is in the church of the Santa Clara Convent which was built in the early years of the 17th Century. It contains a fine collection of Visigothic sculptures from the 4th to the 8th centuries. There are many pieces donated from private collections. These are from Merida and its surroundings and consist of decorated stonework from buildings, altars and fonts as well as objects used in everyday life.
