The Cathedral de Salvador was built in the 16th Century on the site of a former mosque. Small for a cathedral, it was a parish church before Orihuela became a bishopric. The building is a mixture of styles including Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. In the cathedral is Renaissance ironwork. There is a Baroque organ and a 17th Century choir. In the cathedral`s museum is Velazquez`s famous Temptation of Thomas.
