The Ourense Provincial Archaeology Museum is housed in an old building that dates back to the 12th Century. The collection covers the development of Galacia from prehistoric to medieval times. There is an interesting Mesolithic section as well as a fine collection of sculptures from the Roman period in Galacia. Other exhibits in the museum include sculptures in the Renaissance and Baroque styles as well as other pieces of art and furniture.
