The Palacio de Linares was built in the late 19th Century when the banker Jose de Murga was made Marques de Linares. This beautiful building boasts Rococo decor, marble floors and murals. By the late 20th Century it was was suffering from neglect, but it was restored by the government as part of the culture festival of 1992 when Madrid was the European Capital of Culture. The building now houses the Casa de America and it has a restaurant.
