Palma`s breathtaking Gothic cathedral is located high above the waterfront on the site of a former mosque. Completed in the late 16th Century, it has since been rebuilt and the Royal Chapel was redesigned by Antoni Gaudi. The cathedral has beautiful stained glass windows and the magnificent nave is almost 150 feet high. The wrought-iron canopy above the high altar, symbolizing the Crown of Thorns, is the work of Gaudi. In the Trinity Chapel are the alabaster tombs of Jaume 11 and Jaume 111, medieval kings of Mallorca.
