This tranquil, landscaped park was originally laid out in the early 20th Century, but had to be completely replanted after being destroyed during the Civil War. It was the site of the Montana barracks which were stormed in 1936 by Madrid people to obtain weapons at the start of the war. Fighting also took place here in 1808 against the French. The park is now a beautiful, peaceful place in which to take a stroll.
