Puerto Pesquero is a small, working harbour full of small boats. It is enclosed by a low black wall and around the harbour are historical buildings, including the Royal Customs House, which dates from 1620. It functioned as such until the early 1900s. Another splendid building is the 18th Century Casa de Miranda, home of Francisco Miranda, liberator of Venezuela. The restored building is now a restaurant and bar.
