The Plaza de Comendadoras is named after the convent which occupies one side of the square. The nuns belong to the military Order of Santiago (St James). Banners with the names and dates of the knights` victories decoate the church. There is a large painting of St James over the high altar. In the sacristy are statues of kings. The square itself is a pleasant meeting place with cafes and bars.
