The Plaza de la Villa de Paris is a large French type of square and in its centre are statues of Fernando V1 and his wife Barbara de Braganza. Beside the square is the Palace of Justice which was built as a convent in the mid 18th Century for Barbara de Braganza. It was the home of nuns until the building was taken over by the government in 1870, and it is now the supreme court.
