Plaza del Charco is a lively square with cafes and bars. It is in the old quarter of Puerto de la Cruz and was once a place where people fished for shrimps in shallow waters. On one side is the 18th Century Rincan del Puerto with its traditional balconies. Nearby is the small fishing harbour, full of rowing boats and other craft. On a corner is the early 17th Century Royal Customs House.
