The Royal Botanic Garden is an ideal place to relax after visiting the nearby museums and art galleries. Designed in 1781, during the reign of Carlos 111, its aim was to promote expeditions and research new plant species. In the Exhibition Greenhouse are more than 1,000 cultivated plants divided into sections simulating sub-tropical, tropical and desert regions. Part of the garden is devoted to growing different kinds of herbs. The garden also contains a library and research centre.
