Roncesvalles is known for its Collegiate church which houses a silver covered statue of the Virgin of Roncesvalles. This revered image was found by a shepherd and a pilgrimage here takes place in September. The church dates from the 13th Century and it is in the Gothic style. There is a burial chapel containing the tomb of the Navarra King Sancho V11. It has a depiction of the king in a battle against the Moors.
