Sa Trapa Monastery is now in ruins after being abandoned by Trappist monks many years ago. It is located above cliffs in a breathtaking position at a height of over 1200 feet. Founded in the mid 17th Century, the Trappist order is a strict reformed branch of the Cistercians. Some of the monastery buildings have been restored and you can see the mill and the threshing circle which were powered by donkeys. It is a popular destination for a slightly strenuous walk from Sant Elm.
